The gear most go kart tracks provide is basic, but safe for the types of karts you will be driving. Make sure your helmet fits properly and is secured!

When we got a bit more serious we bought our own race boots and gloves, which made a big difference to comfort and control.

When racing in championships it is sometimes a requirement to have approved gear - if you can afford it, it is sensible to get the best you can for safety reasons - even if not a requirement.
